Remembering Mets History: David Wright's Years at the All Star Game
David Wright was named to seven All Star Teams representing the New York Mets. Wright made five straight squads (2006-2010), then two more (2012-2013).
In seven appearances he collected seven hits (7-18) batting .389 with one HR one RBI & a walk. He struck out three times as well.
2006 All Star Game: In the Mets NL Eastern Champion season, David Wright made his first All Star appearance in the game played in Pittsburgh's PNC Park.
In the top of the 9th, with the score tied the Rangers Michael Young tripled off the Padres Trevor Hoffman scoring the Angels Troy Glaus in what was the games winning run.

Two of Wright's teammates also started the game, outfielder Carlos Beltran making his second straight All-Star team as a Met & catcher Paul LoDuca. Jose Reyes was also elected to the team but sat out due to an injury.
HR Derby: David Wright participated in the HR Derby the day before the game, with Paul LoDuca throwing him pitches. After the event there was talk that the Derby ruined Wright's swing in the second half of the season, when his production at the plate fell off.

In the top of the 2nd, Wright had his biggest All-Star moment as he hit a HR in his first All Star game at bat. The HR came off the Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers giving his team a 1-0 lead. Wright collected the only NL RBI of the night.
In the 3rd inning, Calos Beltran collected the first of his two hits & stole second. He scored the only other NL run when the Jays Roy Halladay threw a wild pitch to Albert Pujols allowing him to score.
Wright got two more at bats & grounded out both times going 1-3.

2007 All Star Game: This year the Mets had three starters in the All Star game at San Francisco's AT &T Park, as Wright & Jose Reyes took over the left side of the infield, with Carlos Beltran in the outfield. Closer Billy Wagner also made the squad.
In the bottom of the 1st inning, Jose Reyes singled off the A's Dan Haren then stole second & scored on Ken Griffey Jr.'s base hit. David Wright grounded out to end the inning.
After grounding out in the 4th, Wright then singled in his last at bat in the 6th inning off the Tigers Justin Verlander.
That season Wright hit a career high .325.
In the top of the 8th, with the AL already ahead 3-2 Billy Wagner gave up a two run HR to the Indians Victor Martinez.
2008 All Star Game: David Wright made his third All Star team in 2008, but the start went to the Braves Chipper Jones. Once again teammate Billy Wagner joined Wright in his final Mets All Star appearance.
The game was a four hour & fifty-minute, marathon that lasted 15 innings played at the old AL New York's ball club in the Bronx. Wright received a nice ovation from the New York fans.

The NL won their third straight as they beat up on Ron Washington's AL team 8-0. In the 1st inning, Pablo Sandoval cleared the bases with a three-run triple off Justin Verlander. The Brewers Ryan Braun & the Marlins Dan Uggla added RBI hits.
In the 3rd, another Giant, Melky Cabrera hit a two run HR & the Rockies Matt Holiday drove in another.
In the top of the 6th, Wright entered the game went 0-2. R.A. Dickey pitched a scoreless 6th & struck out the White Sox Paul Konerko.
2013 All Star Game - Citi Field: This was the first All Star Game the Mets had hosted in 39 years, since the game was played in a brand-new Shea Stadium in 1964.
David Wright participated in the HR Derby but hit just five HRs. David was a big favorite at the Fan Fest & other functions around the city that week. For Wright this was his last All-Star appearance.
Mets Hall of Famer Tom Seaver threw out the ceremonial first pitch & David Wright was the receiver. The two embraced in a wonderful Mets moment after the pitch. centerfieldmaz was in attendance that night.

David Wright batted clean-up & played at third base for the NL. He went 1-3 in the game, collecting just one of the three NL's hits in the 3-0 loss.

Matt Harvey threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out three AL starts- the Tigers Miguel Cabrera, the Jays Jose Bautista & the Orioles Adam Jones.
