David Weathers: Early 2000's Mets Relief Pitcher (2002 - 2004)

John David Weathers was born on September 25, 1969, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Thomas & Gloria Weathers. David has an older brother, Michael. Thier father was a pipefitter & their mother worked in a factory. Weathers was a star basketball player in high school making All Region. He then attended Motlow State Community College at Tullahoma, Tennessee where he was a baseball star.  The six-foot three right hander was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the third round of the 1988 draft.  By 1991 he was pitching at AAA Knoxville with his best friend future MLB pitcher, Mike Timlin. There he was informed of his big league callup from former Met John Stearns who was his manager at Knoxville. MLB Debut: Weathers debuted on August 2nd, in a 5-3 loss to the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Jerrod Riggan: Early 2000's Mets Relief Pitcher (2000 - 2001)

Jerrod Ashley Riggan was born May 16th, 1974, in Brewster, Washington. The six three right hander attended San Diego State University eventually getting signed by the Anaheim Angels in 1996. In 1998 the Angels released him & he was signed by the New York Mets that summer. In 1998 Riggan went 4-1 at A ball Capitol City moving up to the St. Lucie Mets the following year. By 2000 he was pitching as the closer at AA Binghamton, where he saved 28 games going 2-0 with a 1.11 ERA. That summer he got a surprise called up when a pitcher from AAA Norfolk couldn't make it the trip due to terrible weather in Virginia. The Mets called on Riggan who got the big break. MLB Debut: On August 29th, Riggan debuted at Shea Stadium, pitching three innings of late relief in an 11-1 blowout loss to the Houston Astros.  Jerrod even earned a share of the Mets 2000 NL Champion bonus money.   2001:   Mets Manager Bobby Valentine took a liking to Riggan & he made the staff of the 2001 season.  O

Phil Regan: 2019 Mets Pitching Coach

Philip Raymond Regan was born April 6th, 1937, in Otsego, Michigan. The six-foot three right-handed pitcher began a long baseball career, getting signed by the Detroit Tigers in 1956. MLB Career: In 1960 Regan debuted & spent six seasons in Detroit as both a starter & reliever going 42-44 with a 4.50 ERA. In 1963 he won 15 games (10th most in the AL) for the 5th place Tigers who won 81 games. In 1965 he asked the Tigers GM to be traded & was soon sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Dick Tracewski. He landed on one of the best teams in baseball, with a pitching staff of Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Don Sutton & Claude Osteen. Trivia:  He soon was known to "swoop in" a game & earn his team a victory, which got him the moniker of "the Vulture".  In the 1966 Dodgers Pennant season, Phil was sent to the bullpen, losing a starters job to rookie Don Sutton. Albert Bluford Walker was born on May 16, 1926, in Lenoir, North Carolina. He was the oldest son of three boys to Albert & Beulah Walker. Growing up on a farm he learned farming & how to cure meats. Albert played football, baseball & was a wrestler. The six-foot left hand hitting catcher, became known as Rube. In 1944 he signed as an amateur free agent with the Chicago Cubs. Walker spent four years in the minor leagues batting .354 at AA Nashville in 1947, which was good enough for him to make the 1948 Cubs squad. MLB Career: In the first two months of his 1948 season, he appeared mostly as pinch hitter, getting his first start behind the plate on May 31st.  Multi- 5 RBI Game:  On September 3rd, he had one the best offensive games of his career, where he collected three hits, with a HR & five RBIs in a 10-1 win over the Pirates at Forbes Field. Bobby Heise: Brief Member of the 1969 Amazing Mets (1967-1969)

Robert Lowell Heise was born on May 12, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas. The six-foot infielder attended Vacaville high school in Vacaville California and played baseball in the Peninsula League during the winter of 1965. One day Mets shortstop Bud Harrelson was attending a game that Heise was playing in & was impressed on what he saw. Harrelson told Mets scout Roy Partee, “this kid Heise, has a little talent” so he checked him out. Partee & the Mets organization agreed, signing Heise to a deal in 1966. Heise first served in the U.S. Marines then went on to bat .298 at A ball in the Carolina League with the Durham Bulls.  Mets Career: He got a big jump through the ranks, as he joined the Mets big league club on September 12th, 1967, as the starting second baseman in a game against the Atlanta Braves.  In his MLB debut he was 1-for-4, getting a base hit with two outs in the ninth inning. He represented the winning run but was caught stealing to end the inning, the Braves won
