(2025) Pete Alonso Wins April NL Player of the Month

After an off season where Pete Alonso & the Mets couldn't see eye to eye on a contact, a deal was finally agreed upon on February 5th giving Pete a two-year $54 million deal with a $10 million signing bonus. The fans wanted Pete back & let management know that. Pete wanted to come back & he let that be known as well. 

He came to Spring Training determined & began the season with a purpose. He showed how valuable he is, being the Mets most valuable player & the league's best player in the month of April.

Pete Alonso closed out the month of March hitting his fourth career grand slam HR, coming off the Marlins Cal Quantrill in a seven run Mets 5th inning of a 10-4 win in South Florida.


Multi- Four RBI Game: On April 2nd, in a 6-5 extra inning win in South Florida, Alonso had
his first multi- four RBI game of the season. He collected three hits with a pair of doubles scoring two runs. In the top of the 1st, Alonso doubled bringing in Juan Soto with his first RBI of the game. 
The Mets fell behind 4-1 but in the top of the 8th inning, after Luis Torrens & Francisco Lindor both singled, Alonso hit his second HR of the season, a three-run shot off Calvin Faucher tying up the game. The Mets went on to win it in extra innings.

In his next game, the Mets hosted the Blue Jays at Citi Field. Pete made it back-to-back HR games, with a bottom of the 1st inning two run shot off Kevin Gausman.

 On Sunday in the series finale. Alonso collected a 3rd inning RBI single helping David Peterson, Max Kranick & the rest of the Mets bullpen in a 2-1 win. It was the first of three straight multi-two hit games for Alonso getting him over the .300 mark. From April 6th to April 11th Pete would hit safely in five straight games, collecting ten hits raising his average to .333.


Multi- Four RBI Game:
On Tuesday April 8th, the Mets hosted the Miami Marlins taking a 10-5 win. Alonso hit a pair of doubles matching his April best four multi- RBI games. In the bottom of the 3rd his RBI double scored Juan Soto. In the bottom of the 6th, he cleared the bases with a three-run double off Ronn Henriquez.

Two days later the Mets flew to West Sacramento where the Athletics would be calling home for the next two years until their Las Vegas Stadium is ready. Alonso had a muti-three hit game, hitting his fourth HR of the season, with an RBI double & sac fly RBI for another muti- RBI game.

From April 14th to April 16th in a three-game series at Minnesota, Alonso had three straight muti-two hit games while driving in runs in each game. 

From April 18th thru April 23rd, he went a six-game hit streak, collecting eight more hits with a HR, three doubles five RBIs keeping his season average up to one of the league's best at .341. On April 19th, he hit his sixth HR of the season, a solo shot coming in a 3-0 Mets combined shut out in a series sweep of the Cardinals at Citi Field.


On April 23rd, with the Mets down 3-2 to the Phillies in the bottom of the 10th inning, Alonso doubled off Jordan Romano scoring the inherited runner to tie the game. Alonso then scored the walk off game winning run on Starling Marte's base hit. 

The win gave the Mets a seven-game streak & a sweep of the Phillies.

From April 26th to April 29th, Pete collected six hits in a four-game hit streak, while hitting his seventh HR of the season.

NL Player of the Month: In the month of April, Alonso hit .362 with 34 hits, collecting 11 doubles, a triple, six HRs & 24 RBIs. He scored 20 runs, was hit by five pitches, drew 16 walks posted a .470 on base % & 1.161 OPS. Alonso also played a fine defense at first base.

On May 1st Alonso was 1st in doubles (26) on base % (.475) slugging (.649) & tied for most games played (32). Pete ranked 2nd in the NL in batting (.342) & in hit by pitches (5). He was tied for 3rd in RBIs (28) & HRs (7) & 5th in walks (24).
