Remembering Mets History (2016) Mets Score Franchise Inning Record 12 Runs As Yoenis Cespedes Sets Team Mark with Six RBIs in Same Inning
Friday April 29th, 2016: Terry Collins second place, reigning NL Champion Mets (13-7) were riding a six-game win streak as they entered a weekend series with Bruce Bochy's San Francisco Giants (12-11) at Citi Field.
A crowd of 39,764 settled in to Citi Field on chilly rainy Spring evening.
The Mets were on a hot streak & tonight they would erupt with a historic third inning.
Tonight marked the first time in six games that Yoenis Cespedes returned to the Mets line up after bruising his right leg.
Historic 3rd Inning: In the bottom of the 3rd, the Mets got to Padre starter Jake Peavey with a historic third inning.

After Lucas Duda drew a walk, Neil Walker doubled off the right field wall scoring Cespedes for a 4-0 lead.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy changed pitchers bringing Mike Broadway. Asdrubal Cabrera greeted him with a two run double to left field making it 6-0.
Kevin Plawecki then walked & Steven Matz went down on strikes for the first out of the inning.
The Mets batted around, as Curtis Granderson, who had led off the inning came up & drove an RBI single to right field scoring Cabrera making it 7-0 Mets.
David Wright then collected the sixth Mets hit of the inning with a single. Michael Conforto delivered again, with his second RBI hit of the inning scoring Plawecki making it an 8-0 lead.
Grand Slam HR: The inning wasn't over yet as the bases were loaded with just one out. Yoenis Cespedes, the thirteenth Met to bat in the inning came up & made Mets history. Cespedes blasted a grand slam HR into left field sending the Citi Field crowd into a frenzy. It was his first of two grand slam HRs this season. The Mets now led 12-0 making team history.
