Remembering Mets History (2015) Lucas Duda's Six RBI Night Puts Mets One Win Away From Clinching NL East
September 25th, 2015: In the Nation's Capital, the cast of Bryce Harper, Jason Werth & the rest of the Washington Nationals continued to help the Mets playoff run as they lost their fourth straight game.
The Nat's were just one game from being eliminated in the 2015 season & were now fighting to stay above .500 as they looked up at the Mets 8.5 game lead in first place.

Tonight, in Cincinnati, Terry Collins first place Mets (86-67) took on Bryan Price's fifth place Reds (63-90).
In the top of the 3rd inning, Daniel Murphy doubled for his team best 37th of the season. Yoenis Cespedes singled putting two men aboard for Lucas Duda. Duda hit the first of his two run HRs on the night, the three-run blast was his 23rd on the year giving New York the 4-0 lead.

Lucas Duda Trivia: Duda had the biggest night hitting a pair of three run HRs with six RBIs, giving him 66 RBIs on the year.
Noah Syndergaard rolled along showing top form as he shut out the Reds for seven innings, allowing just three hits while striking out eleven along the way.
Noah Trivia: It was the fourth time he had posted double digit strike outs on the season, with three games of 11 or more Ks.
In the top of the 2nd, Michael Conforto hit a one out double. Two batters later, Noah Syndergaard singled into centerfield driving in the Mets first run. It was Noah's fourth RBI of the year.

In the top of the 7th with the Mets still up 4-0, Ruben Tejada reached on an error. He advanced & scored on Curtis Granderson's double to left field. His 31st double of the year, the third time in his career he had reached 30 or more doubles.
David Wright then reached on an infield single. Daniel Murphy then singled into center scoring Granderson with the Mets sixth run for his 70th RBI of the year, marking the second time in his career he reached that number.
Lucas Duda came up with Wright & Murph on board, blasting his second three run HR of the night putting New York up 9-0.

The six RBIs were a season best & his Mets career high for a single game. That season he would tie a franchise record with seven multi-HR games for the year.
In the top of the 8th, Michael Conforto & Noah Syndergaard reached with base hits. It was Noah's second multi-hit game.
Curtis Granderson then hit his 24th HR of the year, a three-run blast giving the Mets the 11-0 lead. Granderson had himself a multi-four RBI night, matching his s season high set back in April.
In the bottom of the 8th Noah gave up a HR to Brennan Boesch for the Reds first run. Terry Collins took out the big right hander & brought on Eric O'Flaherty.
After giving up a single to Joey Votto he was replaced for Bobby Parnell. He would allow a run as did his relief Tim Stauffer. Hansel Robles finished off the 12-5 win.
The Mets magic number to clinch the East was now one.
