(2025) Pete Alonso's Big Start to June & Mets Sweep Rockies Scoring Season High 13 Runs
Alonso came into June on a seven-game hit streak & was batting .288. He had not hit a HR in the past four games & not having an RBI in the past three. At the start of that current homestand, he hit HRs in a 3-1 win over the Dodgers & a 6-4 win over the White Sox. The Mets won seven of nine games on that homestand in games with the Dodgers, White Sox & Rockies.
Sunday, June 1st, 2025: In the final game of the successful home stand, Clay Holmes pitched seven innings allowing three runs but earned his sixth win (6-3) as the Mets finished off a sweep of the Rockies.
In the 4th inning Starling Marte drew a leadoff walk & stole second for his 358th career stolen base, first among active players. Juan Soto was then hit with a pitch putting two on for Pete Alonso who then hit his 12th HR of the season. The three-run shot led the Mets to the 5-3 victory.
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025: The Mets won the first game of a big series in Los Angeles in extrainnings as Francisco Alvarez & Francisco Lindor drove in runs in the top of the 10th inning. Alonso went 0-3 with a walk in that game ending his eight-game hit streak.
In the top of the 1st inning of the second game of the series, Starling Marte singled then advanced on a wild pitch. Pete Alonso then singled off Clayton Kershaw bringing home Marte with the Mets first run.
The Dodgers came back with four runs, off Tylor Megill including a HR from Matt Muncy to take the lead. In the top of the 3rd after Francisco Lindor singled, Juan Soto hit a two run HR off Kershaw to right field, his 11th HR of the season to get the Mets to within a run.
In the top of the 5th, Lindor drew a one out walk, then Pete lined a double into the left center field gap, scoring Lindor & tying the game at four. Brandon Nimmo's base hit put the Mets ahead & knocked Kershaw out of the game. But in the 9th, Matt Muncy's second HR of the game tied it up & Freddie Freeman's Walk off double off Jose Butto won it the next inning.
Wednesday June 4th, 2025: In the top of the 1st, Francisco Lindor was hit by a pitch, advanced on Enrique Hernandez's error then then scored on Juan Soto's fielder's choice. Pete followed with his 13th HR of the year, a two-run shot off Tony Goslin giving New York a 3-0 lead. The two runs got Pete to the 50 RBI mark on the season.
Griffin Canning held the Dodgers scoreless thru six innings on just three hits, striking out seven on his way to his sixth win (6-2) of the season.In the top of the 8th, Brandon Nimmo was hit by a pitch by Brian Loutos. He was the second Mets batter to get hit on the night & it was the 40th time a Mets batter was hit on the season. Next, Juan Soto drew a walk.
Pete Alonso followed with his second HR of the game, a three-run shot that landed in the corridor of the left field pavilion giving New York a 6-0 lead. It was Pete's first multi-HR game of the season, the 22nd of his career. The five RBI's were also a season high & the 11th time in his career he collected five or more RBIs in a game.
The Mets went on to a 6-1 win, having won nine of their last eleven games.
Thursday, June 5th, 2025: The Mets lost the final game of the series in L.A. & would split the four-game set with the Dodgers.
Alonso would have his third multi-three hit game of the season, his third straight multi- hit game, including hitting his 15th HR, a solo shot off Landon Knack to lead off the 2nd inning.
He also had an RBI single getting him to the league leading 55 RBI mark. It was also Alonso's third straight multi-RBI game.
Friday, June 6th, 2025: The Mets moved on to Colorado where they played the last placeRockies. Although the Rockies had just come off a series sweep of the Marlins, they had won just 12 games all year while losing 50.
Kodai Senga allowed just one run in six innings, lowering his league leading ERA to 1.59 as the Mets took the first game 4-2. In the top of the 7th, with one out, Starling Marte & Juan Soto both reached with base hits. Pete Alonso then drilled a two run double in the left center field gap for his league leading 20th double of the season & 57th RBI.
In the top of the 9th, with the score tied at two, Juan Soto singled to center & Pete Alonso drew his 33rd walk of the year. Francisco Lindor who was sitting out the game with a broken foot, came on as a pinch hitter & delivered a two-run double scoring Soto & Alonso with the games winning runs.
Sunday, June 8th, 2025: The Mets won the second game of the series 8-1 with Alonso going 1-5 hitting safely in his fifth straight game. On this Sunday afternoon he would have another big game.
In the top of the 2nd, Jeff McNeil led off with a HR off Chase Dollander, the first of two Jeff would hit on the day. Ronn Mauricio collected the first of his two hits & Tyrone Taylor drew a walk as well. Francisco Alvarez singled to bring in Mauricio for a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the 3rd, Juan Soto singled into right field, Soto would reach base safely six times in the game, collecting three hits as well as three walks while scoring three runs.
Pete Alonso followed with 16th HR of the season, a shot to left center field making it a 4-0 Met lead. The HR tied him with David Wright for second on the All-Time Mets HR list. It was the first of two for Pete on the day.
In the top of the 8th, after Soto walked reaching base for the sixth time, Alonso hit his second HR of the game, a two-run shot off Tyler Kinley giving the Mets a 12-3 lead.
Second Mets All Time HR Leader: It was Alonso's team leading 17th HR on the season & the 243rd of his career putting him in sole possession of second place on the all-time franchise list. He is now just nine shy of Darryl Strawberry's all time Mets mark of 252.
It was Pete's second multi-HR game of the week as well as the season, the 23rd of his career passing Darryl Strawberry for most multi- HR games in franchise history. Another stat that gets overlooked is that Pete has played in a franchise record 32o straight games.
MVP Type Season: The five RBIs matched his season high set five days earlier & the 12th time in his career he collected five or more RBIs in a game. He also had his fourth multi-three hit game of the season, getting over the .300 mark (.301) & had a six-game hit streak. He had hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games.
From June 1st thru June 8th, Pete hit six HRs with 18 RBIs, collecting 13 hits overall with three walks for a .382 average, .462 on base % & 1.432 OPS.

In the top of the 7th, McNeil led off with his third hit of the game, a double to left field, Bret Baty then hit his 7th HR of the year giving the Mets a 10-2 lead. After Alonso's HR, Francisco Alvarez added a solo shot in the top of the 9th making it a 13-3 game.
Tylor Megill pitched five innings allowing two runs for his fifth win & Paul Blackburn earned a four inning save, giving up two runs on seven hits.The Mets put up 17 hits in the big win, with Alonso & Jeff McNeil both collecting three hits, a pair of HRs, four RBIs & three runs scored each in the game. Juan Soto reached base safely six times, with three hits & three walks while scoring three runs.
The 13 runs were a Mets season high & the third time this season they passed the double-digit mark for runs scored. The Mets were now 18 games over .500, 4.5 games ahead of the Phillies in the NL East.
