Tug McGraw: The Mets First Star Relief Pitcher- Fireman / Closer (Part One: 1965 - 1972)

Frank Edwin McGraw was born August 30, 1944, in Martinez, California. Nickname: When he was just a baby, he would firmly nurse on his mother’s breast as she fed him. "he's a real tugger" she said & the name stuck with him forever. Quotes- Tug McGaw: "On my first day of kindergarten, the teacher asked if there was anyone's name she didn't call? I raised my hand & said my name is Tug McGraw. She looked at the role & said "I have a Frank McGraw" I said No, that's my dad. He already went kindergarten." His mother Mabel  was manic depressive, she was verbally & physically abusive. She ran away on the family while on a weekend pass from Napa State Mental Hospital. Tug & his brothers were raised by their father, Big Mac. The boys attended  Catholic schools &  played sports, all the time. Noah Syndergaard- "Thor": 2015 NL Champion Mets Pitcher (2015 - 2021)

Noah Seth Syndergaard was born August 29th, 1992, in Mansfield Texas. The big six-foot six right-handed flame thrower is nicknamed Thor for his resemblance to the superhero with his long blond hair.  Noah throws right handed but bats left-handed. After a successful high school career, he was selected in the first round of the 2010 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays (the 38th pick overall). In 2011, his first season at A ball (three teams) he struck out 68 batters in 59 innings going 5-2 with a 1.83 ERA. Blockbuster Trade: In 2012 he was traded to the New York Mets along with Travis d'Arnaud & John Buck for R.A. Dickey & Josh Thole & Mike Nickeas. In 2013 Noah pitched at A ball St. Lucie, earning an All-Star spot, going 3-3 with 64 strike outs in 63 innings.
