Remembering Mets History (2015) Jacob deGrom Shuts Out L.A. For Eight Innings & Juan Uribe Collects Walk Off Hit
Sunday July 26th, 2015: Terry Collins Mets (51-48) had just come off a much-needed victory as had lost six of their last eight games. They were in second place two games behind the Washington Nationals. That week Mets had just acquired veterans, Kelly Johnson & Juan Uribe to help the offense.
In this matinee at Citi Field, the Mets hosted Don Mattingly's first place Los Angeles Dodgers (56-44) in front of 36,093 fans.
In the 9th, the Mets Jeurys Familia came for the save but with one out, back-to-back doubles by Adrian Gonzalez & former Met Justin Turner narrowed the lead to a run. Then Yasmani Grandal's base hit scored pinch runner Carl Crawford to tie the game as Familia blew his fourth save of the season.
Juan Uribe Trivia: In the Mets 2015 NL Pennant season, Juan Uribe was acquired along with Kelly Johnson from the Braves on July 24th. In 44 games Uribe would hit 6 HRs with nine doubles & 20 RBIs before getting injured.

The Mets Jacob deGrom went up against L.A.'s Zack Greinke in a much-anticipated pitching match.
In the home 3rd, Kirk Nieuwenhuis was hit by a pitch, then advanced to third on Kevin Plawecki's base hit. Nieuwenhuis then scored on Jacob deGroms fielder's choice giving deGrom a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the 3rd, Zack Greinke singled for the Dodgers first hit. In the 5th, Andre Ethier singled into centerfield for the only other Dodger hit off deGrom. He pitched eight shutout innings walking two & striking out eight.
In the bottom of the 6th, Curtis Granderson led off with a base hit, then stole second base & was sacrificed over to third. Daniel Murphy was walked intentionally. Then newcomer, Kelly Johnson bounced one to first base, Dodger first baseman Adrian Gonzales threw home & Curtis Granderson was out at the plate. Then Lucas Duda walked to load the bases.
Zack Greinke hit Michael Conforto with a pitch, his second hit batsman of the game, as Daniel Murphy scored from third making it 2-0 Mets.

In the top of the 10th, Jenrry Mejia pitched a scoreless inning.
In the bottom of the 10th, Curtis Granderson led off with a double to right field off Dodger pitcher Juan Nicasio. After a failed bunt attempt by Ruben Tejada, Daniel Murphy was intentionally walked for the second time.
Reliever Kenley Jansen came in to pitch for the Dodgers & Juan Uribe who had struck out in the 8th inning as a pinch hitter came to bat for the Mets.
In just his second Mets game Uribe became an instant hero as he hit a long fly ball over the centerfielder Joc Pederson's head scoring Curtis Granderson with the games winning, walk off run.

His bat was missed in the post season as he made just one at bat, collecting an RBI single in the World Series Game #3 off Franklin Morales in the Mets 9-3 win over the Royals at Citi Field.
