Concert Review: John Fogerty at Seminole Hard Rock Casino- Hollywood, Florida

I had a great chance to see an awesome show at my home away from home in South Florida. It began with a fantastic dinner at Matoranos (yo cuz), expensive but definitely worth the price from the ricotta gnocchi down to the unbelievable Philly Cheesesteak!!! You might know celebrity chef Steve Matarano as "the Italian American Cook" from South Philadelphia.

The 5500 Hard Rock seat concert hall is located just across from the restaurant. If you've never been to the Hollywood Florida Seminole Hard Rock Casino it's Florida at its best, an outdoor concourse leading to all the restaurants , bars & casino area. With beautifal weather & alot of kool people it was a great start to a great evening.

The show began a bit late, as we settled in to our 18th row (center) seats. An reved up John Fogerty hit the stage with a lot of energy & excitement, running all about to make sure he greeted all sides of his audience. He kept this level up all night, and never let up with any breaks. He looked as though he was loving every moment of being on stage & in front of his fans again. The Florida crowd started a bit more laid back but certainly into the show & were all fired up by the end.

Although Fogerty is from Northern California he has deep fans in America's South with his Country / Bayou style of Rock & Roll. Basically, they love Fogerty down here!

His six piece band was tight & sensational. Its all about Fogerty though, as he sang all vocals & played most lead guitar with some harmonica mixed in as well. There was a brief fiddle solo & drum solo which were the only times John wasn't leading the band. He changed guitars for almost every song and was wearing his classic plaid shirt. At one point he yelled out "who was wearing a plad shirt ?" And to his delight found a young boy in the crowd with the same shirt he had on & he stopped the show to give him a few guitar pics.

He looks good, fit trim & his voice sounded real good. Get ready for a couple of huge shows next week at the Beacon in New York where he plays The Green River album one night & Cosmos Factory the second night. If your keeping score at this show we got six songs from Cosmos Factory to just three songs from Green River.

Tonight's show was a 25 set song list of hits, mostly from his Creedance Clearwater Revival days. I didn't get a few of my favorites ( " Suzy Q" -" I Put A Spell On You" -&  "Run Through the Jungle") nor his solo Fogerty "Rock & Roll Girls" but other than that I can't complain.  He pretty much kept te songs short & straight forward like on record. No mention of his brother or other members of CCR. A few surprises were the two cover songs listed below. By the time he played Bad Moon On the Rising the crowd was up on its feet singing & dancing never sitting down through the next seven songs, until the end of the show.
