In the top of the 1st, Rickey Henderson led off the game with his record, 74th lead off HR. After Edgardo Alfonzo walked, the Mets followed with back to back HRs from John Olerud & Mike Piazza. Piazza was leading the club with 13 HRs at this point. It was a quick 4-0 lead, with three Mets HRs already in the books.
In the top of the 5th, Alfonzo hit one of his own, his 9th of the year. In the next inning, with Tomko somehow still on the mound, Matt Franco hit a HR for the Mets, their fifth of the day, it was now 5-1 Mets.

Rick Reed cruised through 8 innings earning his fourth win & Pat Mahomes closed it out.
