The Mets front office has finally decided to honor some Mets history. This week they announced that the Mets Hall of Fame will open adjacent to the Jackie R. Rotunda. They will name some V.I.P. entrance areas after Tom Seaver & Gil Hodges with another outfield entrance named after The Old Professor, Casey Stengel. That great bridge linking the outfield food court with the right field walkway around the lower level will be called the Shea Bridge, in honor of both Bill Shea & the old ballpark. And just today they announced they will be wearing a retro style pin stripe white jersey at home games. Not that they will abandoning the all white & the black jerseys but it's a step in the right direction. Of course it's all about money, the 1969 jersey's were so popular this season that this retro style is hoping to rake in some bucks. The hats remain the same, one can only hope we get the classic blue hat with the orange letters with those jersey's.
Maybe the organization has finally decided to listen to the long time fans. Lets hope the Mets Hall of Fame is done right. Gary Cohen, Howie Rose & writer Marty Noble are heading the committee. Sadly, the team forgot about the inductions, no one has been admitted into the Mets Hall of Fame since Tommie Agee after his passing in 2002.
Remember great Mets players & moments of the past will always live at centerfield maz.com!
