October 4, 1969 - NLCS Game #2: It was a sunny Saturday afternoon in Atlanta for Game #2 of the 1969 NLCS. Jerry Koosman rolled along until the 5th inning when he gave up a three run HR to Hank Aaron and two other runs for a total of six. But by the time Koosman exited the Mets had scored nine runs off four different Braves pitchers.The Mets got a quick run in the 1st on an Ed Kranepool RBI single, then jumped ahead 3-0 on Tommie Agee’s two run HR in the second. Art Shamshy, Bud Harrelson & Wayne Garrett added RBI hits putting the Mets up 6-0 by the 3rd inning. In the 4th inning Ken Boswell had his day in the sun hitting a two run HR off Milt Pappas, forever living in infamy on a Topps baseball card highlighting the game. Cle
on Jones added another two run HR in the 7th inning off Cecil Upshaw making it a total of six Braves pitchers combining for the 11-6 loss. Ron Taylor came on in the 5th inning, getting two strike outs earning the victory. Tug McGraw mopped up the game allowing no runs, a hit & a walk through three innings pitched. The Mets were sitting pretty with a 2-0 Series lead on their way back home to Shea.
