Former Met of the Day: Jesse Hudson (1969)

Jesse James Hudson was born July 22, 1948 in Mansfield Louisiana and was drafted in the 11th round of the 1967 draft. It was tough to crack the 1969 staff the tall lefty managed to get into one game, the only MLB appearance of his career. He faced ten batters in the last two innings, on September 19th 1969 in an 8-0 loss to Pittsburgh. He gave up two hits two walks two runs and struck out three, getting no decision. At least he can say he struck out Willie Stargell at Shea Stadium in 1969. Jesse is a mystery after 1969 but he does turn 61 years old today.

According to the Sporting News of April 15, 1972, Hudson hurt his shoulder in the spring of 1971. He pitched only 11 innings that year for Tidewater and was given his release in spring training 1972 at his own request.
