The 1975 All Star Game was held at Milwaukee's County Stadium. Alot of hoopla was surrounding Hank Aaron, the new all time HR king was back in the city of Milwaukee, closing out his career. It was the first time the game used honorary captains; the first honorees were Stan Musual & Mickey Mantle.The Mets had no one in the starting line up but had two pitchers representing them; Tom Seaver & Jon Matlack. Tug McGraw who had been traded to the Phillies before the season started was also on the staff.
In the top of the 2nd inning Steve Garvey & Jimmy Wynn of the Dodgers both hit solo HRs off Vida Blue putting the N.L. up 2-0. A Johnny Bench single made it 3-0 going into the 6th inning as Tom Seaver came in to pitch. Seaver entered the game 13-4 with 1.78 at the break, on his way to another Cy Young Award. But he struggled tonight. Seaver gave up a single to Joe Rudi, struck out Greg Nettles, then gave u
p a walk to Gene Tenace. He got Fred Lynn to fly out to right then Carl Yastremski blasted a three HR and the game was tied.
Matlack came on to pitch the 7th inning, he struck out Rod Carew then Claudell Washington singled, but was picked off with Matlacks great move. Matlack then struck out Bucky Dent.

In the 9th inning, Bill Madlock drove in two runs with a single off Rich
Gossage and the N.L. added another to go on to win 6-3. It was another win in NL dominance in the seventies. Matlack was credited with the win and along with Madlock won the games co-MVP Award.
