Today In Mets History: Duke Snider Hits 400th Career HR

June 14th, 1963: At Crosley Field in Cincinnati, the Mets & Carl Willey took on the 5th place Reds & Bob Purkey. In the 1st inning after a Ron Hunt single, former Brooklyn Dodger Duke Snider hit his 400th career home run. The 37 year old Snider spent one season with the Mets and hit 14 HRs driving in 45 runs playing in 129 games. He finish his career in 1964 in San Francisco with 407 lifetime HRs. He is currently 43rd on the all time list.

The Mets would win the game 10-3 that day as Frank Thomas had four hits & drove in four runs. There were also RBI singles from Ron Hunt, Tim Harkness & Jimmy Piersall. Willey would get the win putting his record to 5-5, he allowed two runs, one scored by a rookie named Pete Rose. Roger Craig got the save.
